Switchboards, EV chargers, lighting, full rewires and commercial fit-out across Carlton, Fitzroy and the inner east. Tested, tagged, certified, and left cleaner than we found it.
Tap what's happening and we'll tell you whether it's safe to wait, or not.
Pick what's happening to see the call, or just ring the number below.
A tripping safety switch is doing its job — something's leaking current to earth. Don't keep resetting it.
We split the board, find the faulty circuit with a clamp meter, and tell you straight whether it's a dead appliance or the wiring. You get the actual cause, not a reset and a bill.
Flicker across the house is usually a loose connection — often at the board or a backstabbed point. A loose neutral can arc and start a fire, so it's worth a look.
We thermal-check the board and the connections, re-terminate what's loose, and rule out the wiring before blaming the globes.
Stop using it. A warm or browned outlet is a loose connection arcing behind the wall — that's the early stage of an electrical fire.
We isolate the circuit, open it up, find the arcing point, and make it safe the same day. You see exactly what was cooking before we close it back up.
An EV charger, ducted aircon, or a reno asks more of the board. The right first step is a load assessment, not just bolting on another circuit.
We check the main, the spare ways and the capacity, then quote the upgrade that carries it: every new circuit on its own safety switch, labelled, and compliant.
Step 02 · The circuit schedule
Old fuse and ceramic boards brought up to din-rail RCBOs, every circuit on its own safety switch, labelled so the next person isn't guessing.
Inspections, testing and tagging, and a Certificate of Electrical Safety. Pre-purchase and landlord safety checks, done properly and lodged.
Carlton and Fitzroy terraces carry old cloth-insulated wiring. We rewire in stages, room by room, so you're never without power overnight.
Load assessment first, then a dedicated circuit and a proper wall charger. We sort the paperwork and any rebate you're entitled to.
Downlights, pendants, track and dimming. We map the room and the switching before a single hole is cut in the ceiling.
GPOs, data, three-phase, and café and shop fit-outs worked after hours so the doors open on time.

Step 03 · Log it
Tell us what's happening and we'll come back with a time and a fixed price, usually the same day. If something's scorched or hot right now, don't type. Ring it.

× Voltaic — how it works
This site catches the eye. BackOnTools catches the call you can't: it answers in your voice, books the job, and drops it in your pocket before you've put the tools down.
Your site, built around your jobs — half price when it’s on a BackOnTools number.
BackOnTools × Maison Turco
Mains switch
There's no Voltaic. We're Maison Turco, a Melbourne web studio, and we built this fictional electrician to show what a trade website looks like when it's wired the way the work is: tested, labelled, signed off. Every circuit, certificate, and rating on this page is invented. The craft of the page is not.
BackOnTools answers your phone in your voice, books the job, and texts you the address. This site is the other half: the front door that makes the caller dial. If you run a real electrical business and you're already on BackOnTools, leave your details and we'll build you your own page like this one. It's $490 when it's on a BackOnTools number (normally $1,490) and live this week. Your name, your jobs, your numbers, wired to the receptionist that already knows your trade.
